I want to create a mall that all people of the South Asian
community would be proud of and could call their own,"
says Aggarwal. The mall, although relatively quaint at
220,000 square feet, is unique in itself because it has
areas for retail, professional office spaces, and a large
banquet facility.
The
mall has a clean crisp spacious interior that is filled
with sunlight during the day and a large amount of parking
to accommodate everyone. Although the exterior of the mall
seems a bit rustic, Aggarwal knows the importance of being
appeasing to the eyes and is currently working on with contractors
to renovate the exterior of the mall.
Currently
the mall has several businesses some of which are an Indian
movie store, jewelry store, frame store, dance academy and
an African art store. " The main importance is specialty
business ... I am trying to give it the appeal of a more mall
like atmosphere, but for South Asian community." says Aggarwal.
In trying to keep the traditional malls and yet meet the needs
of the South Asian community, Aggarwal is talking with several
businesses including an Indian grocery store, Chinese restaurant,
Italian restaurant, and a movie theater. However, Aggarwal,
wants to make the mall unique by allowing professional businesses
to have space in the mall. " if you go to the doctor's office,[
it's a place] you have nothing to do but sit there and feel
sick, here they can walk around while waiting," says Aggarwal.
Global
Mall is currently attracting professional business like insurance
agencies, doctors and travel groups. Global Mall has such
a wide attraction that there is something for everyone. For
kids the mall offers an arcade game area and soon to be movie
theater. Adults will benefit by only having to make one stop
to shop for food, rugs, clothes, art and even go to a movie
or work out. Even more accommodating is the 700-person banquet
facility that can be used for parties, weddings, or meetings.
"It's just my kind of dream product- this is business and
some satisfaction," says Aggarwal. I am very optimistic about
this product and this mall for the community," added Aggarwal.
His mall is the first of its kind in Atlanta and with all
the specialty stores catering to the South Asian community,
it's surely to be the central hub for the South Asian community.
